I got an HP laptop and here's what I did:
1. Walked into Best Buy
2. Told the computer people exactly what I wanted and needed.
3. Refused all attempts at offering "upgrades," "premiums," and "add-ons."
4. Paid the little fee to have them set it all up and get it running properly for me.
5. Buried the "free" Vista disk I got with the computer somewhere out in the country and continued to run on XP.
6. Lived happily ever after.
My lappy was just over $1000 US and I bought it a year ago in January. Still does everything I need it to and a lot of stuff I don't, but it's goodto have room to grow some. I love my laptop :-D

My HP laptop's hard drive crashed within a year of my buying it. I really don't recommend HP.

Have you considered a Mac? I switched to Mac after that fateful crash, and would never consider going back to PC.

don't do it. If you buy an HP laptop, the only thing HP will mean to you is, "help please!"

It is absolutely the parents responsibility to teach the child how to dress properly. I have 2 daughters, one a teenager and one a tween, and neither of them dress questionably. They are not allowed to show their bellies at any point in time, and if the dress/skort is higher than about an inch above the knee...it goes in the trash.

That being said, I allow my younger daughter to play with Bratz dolls. She loves them and definitely understands that real girls should never dress that way or wear makeup (unless she is playing around the house once in a while). As long as they understand that, I don't feel that Bratz have any influence on the child either way.

I think a lot of parents pass over what they should be teaching their children by boycotting toys like this. That isn't enough...they have to have an active role in their child's life. Looking at the teen pregnancy rate...without the parents' stepping in and setting reasonable boundaries, it doesn't matter what toys the children are playing with...kids (boys AND girls) are going to get in trouble if the parents don't play an active roll.
